Go ahead and close your open jaws. He didn't leave me to be a single mom to dig dirt for no reason at all. Our backyard was a M-E-S-S. The giant sloping yard, the weeds galore, the snakes that had taken up residence in the jungle of neglect, the broken glass bottles, the ivy, the deck that is taking a dive for the worst. We're working on that. We're going to have a yard peeps! A fenced in yard, with a retaining wall, and a giant vegetable garden!
Why did he dig that you ask? Because we had a dozen landscapers come over and refuse to do the job, saying it was too tedious without their big, bad toys that wouldn't fit through our itty bitty gate.
So he did it himself. He came home from work, put on the old blue jeans and worked for a few hours before calling it a night. Go Keith!!!
Next weekend we found someone to help him put together the retaining wall. Then comes the grass. Then comes the nasty season Winter, but come Summer my kids will be running wild in their caged-in-backyard-haven while I sip something delicious on the deck in a lounge chair, munch on fresh veggies, and let the kids work out their energy.
Oh, and I painted my bedroom during this single mom stage. It's no longer black and dark forest green. Phew!
